This class on GMO's was very interesting.
First of all there are only 8 approved Genetically Engineered products available in Canada.
The first 4 are crops that are allowed to be grown in Canada they are:
*Corn (cattle corn - not sweet corn)
Soy
Beets (sugar beets - large white beets)
Canola
The other 4 are allowed to be imported into Canada:
Cotton
Squash - crookneck and zucchini
Papaya
Dairy (rBGH)
*local sweet corn for human consumption is not a GMO so - buy LOCAL! If you buy the imported corn from outside Canada it could be a GMO. The GMO corn that is approved in Canada is processed into animal meal, ethanol and other corn by-products like ascorbic acid, corn startch, corn syrup, High Fructose Corn Syrup, oils, plastics etc. so make sure you read the labels.
